Have Fun and Get Healthy at the Larian Kardio PPUM Health Awareness Fair

Health is a touchy subject for most of us - except perhaps for professional athletes, gym rats and the like.

Even for me, on my 'off' days, I sometimes think about the fabled healthy lifestyle as a pain of the highest magnitude.

Get off the sofa, turn off the telly, stay away from the nasi lemak and the roti canai, and make the teh tarik 'paling kurang manis'. The sacrifice, the longing, the frustration... And don't get me started on what seems like endless hours on the treadmill.

But health can be fun.

Join the Larian Kardio PPUM 2007 and stop by our Health Awareness Fair. PPUM's Cardiology Department and to be fair, all the good people from other PPUM departments want to drag you kicking and screaming towards a heart healthy lifestyle by making it less ‘work’ and more ‘play’.
The health awareness fair is expected to attract more than 5,000 people.

If you turn up, of course. And you should.

We are having a comprehensive exhibition on cardiovascular disease that we hope will cover most of the things you wanted to know about heart health and heart disease but were too afraid to ask.

There will be free public health screening, a primer and hands-on demo on cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) - very useful and should not be missed. If you do miss it, PPUM has a regular public and corporate education programme on CPR that you should try.

Let's see. There will be a basic first aid session - from our experience at the trauma unit, basic first aids is not so basic, so if you don't have a clue, this ones for you.

We have our dietetic (nutritionist) services team on hand - you too can have your our personal diet plan drawn, if you attend. The nutritionists gang have proven a big hit at past health fairs, so if you want to start on a nutritious, healthy and still (relatively) tasty diet, come early and seek these guys out.

While there isn't precisely a shortage of blood, its always nice to have a good supply.

So if you want to give the gift of life, take part in our blood donation drive, its painless (painlessness being relative) and you'll leave feeling saintly, knowing that you've really made a difference to someone.

We're trying to get as many fitness demonstrators as possible so that folks that turn up can get a feel of different activities. Things like yoga, pilates, power silat and qi gong are some of the activities we have planned. Do you have other stuff to recommend, or can you perform? If you do or can, let us know.

Health and fitness-related games and quizzes, health food sampling, giveaways and demos on new health & fitness equipment are being arranged to make the health fair interactive and exciting to everyone, boys and girls of all ages.

We have also contacted some of Malaysia’s top entertainers on the possibility of performing to show their support for the event. Updates on performers as we get confirmations.

It's shaping up to be a fun event.

Are you game for it?
